5 Ways to Spring Clean Your Small Business

I’m sure you’ve already started spring cleaning your home so now let’s talk about how you can do that for your business as well. Because let’s face it you can’t just dump your computer files into a donation bin.

  1. UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA

Go though all your accounts and take stock of what your online presence is like. Is there a section that could be rewritten to sound better or more accurately reflect slight shifts in your target market? Also, highlight what kinds of services you are focusing on, is your brand being represented as effectively as possible? Now is the time to make those little changes that will make a big difference.

  1. STAFF SHUFFLING

We are not saying you should go around and start firing everyone, but now is the time for you to take a min8ute to reflect on your business. Try to focus on what needs your company has, which roles are being filled well, which ones could possible be better executed, which ones are no longer as crucial per changes in how your company operates. You should als
o evaluate which new company needs might necessitate redistribution of staff responsibilities or role definitions, or might require hiring one or two new people entirely.

3.DUST OFF YOUR BUSINESS PLAN

Often, small business  owners think that just because their  company has changed and adapted as necessary, that their original business plan is no longer useful. That couldn’t be further from the truth, in reality you should set aside time each year to review and revise to update to keep pace with your company. While you have your business plan out consider your long term goals, both for the company and  for your own working life.

  1. ORGANIZE YOUR EMAILS

You talk about doing this all the time. JUST DO IT. Clear an afternoon, drink some coffee, and go nuts. If it seems to daunting of a task to tackle on your own hire someone to organize it for you. It’s a relatively minor expense that will improve your work zone fengsui and make all your communications feel infinitely more manageable.

  1. CLEAN YOUR OFFICE, LITERALLY
